Google Analytics pricing
Standard Google Analytics costs nothing. Analytics 360, the enterprise version, is sold by contract and Google doesn't publish a price. For most sites the real question isn't the fee. It's what you give up by using the free version, and whether that matters to you.
The two versions
- Standard: free. Keeps detailed data for up to 14 months, with explorations sampled at 10 million events per query.
- Analytics 360: keeps detailed data for up to 50 months, with explorations sampled at 1 billion events per query, plus higher limits on audiences, API use and exports. You buy it through a contract.
Limits come from Google's comparison of the two. Third-party estimates for 360 usually start around $50,000 a year and run to $150,000 or more, but those are estimates, not Google's prices. Ask Google or a reseller for a real quote.
What free still costs you
- A cookie banner. Google Analytics uses cookies, so in the UK and EU it needs consent. Visitors who decline may not be counted the way you'd expect.
- Your time. It's built for marketing teams with time to build reports. If you only want to know what's working, that's a lot of tool to learn.
- Older detail. Exploration reports can only reach back as far as your retention setting, 14 months at most, so export anything you'll want later.
When each one makes sense
- Standard Google Analytics: you run Google Ads, you need its audiences and attribution, or someone on your team already knows it well. Free is hard to beat here.
- Analytics 360: you've outgrown the standard limits and have the budget and the people to use it.
- A simple paid tool: you want clear answers without a banner or a learning curve, and a few dollars a month is cheaper than the time. See Google Analytics alternatives.
What Seebly costs
